Opportunities With Black Cricket Animal Services

Black Cricket provides a range of volunteering opportunities.

We are positive about disability and welcome people aged over 16 years old to apply to volunteer with us.

We welcome people between the ages of 14 - 16 for some roles and we like to support them to achieve their badge/s for Scouts, Guides and evidence towards their Duke of Edinburgh.

Volunteers will need to be friendly, reliable, have an interest in animals and able to work as a member within a fun team. A willingness to learn is important as is the ability to "get stuck in".

Volunteers will gain and develop a variety of transferable skills when volunteering with us and will get to work with a variety of animals, both invertebrates and vertebrates. You will also get to meet a variety of people.

Volunteering opportunities become available every so often within our It's A Bug's World events and displays and in our animal handling experiences. Volunteering opportunities also arise within our Kids Club sessions but due to the ages (and possible disabilities) of participants in the Club we are a little more selective with the volunteers we have for these sessions. Volunteers also help out at events and activities which we attend.

Training is given as and where required.

Volunteering opportunities which become available will be advertised below and if these interest you, please send us a message. Don't forget to tell us a little bit about yourself, your contact details and why you would like to volunteer with us.                        We look forward to hearing from you.

We are positive about disability and have a lovely volunteering opportunity

General Helper - Events

Black Cricket Animal Services provides a range of animal services including pet sitting and visits, education, Kids Club, rescue, organises events and attends other events and functions.

We firmly believe that having a disability should not be a barrier to working in an animal care and education environment and we are delighted to inform you about a new volunteering opportunity that has become available to support our attendance at public and private events, and to help in our own events within the local communities (these are organised under It's A Bug's World). This opportunity would suit someone who has a love of all animals (not just cats and dogs), would be willing to 'muck in' with whatever we are doing from holding the animals, greeting visitors, and decorating the display area. It will also involve working with one or more people in a friendly and supportive environment.

This would be good experienced and evidence for those studying on ASDAN courses and great for CVs. Hours to suit (mainly at weekends but occasional evening and daytime work), transport available as required, lunch provided for whole day events, and an It's A Bug's World t-shirt.

We attend events in Bedford, Shefford, St Neots, Milton Keynes and other areas close by.

We firmly believe that having a disability should not prevent anyone from volunteering and Black Cricket Animal Services supports people to actively volunteer and contribute in the community. We provide volunteering opportunities to people in our different areas of animal care, rescue, education and events. We provide training and support the development of skills such as animal care and husbandry, communicating with the general public, socialising, and working within a team. We like to help improve confidence, social and employability skills.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send us a message with some information about yourself and why you would like to volunteer in this role.
