It's A Bug's World - Shefford

&

Black Cricket Kids Club Session

Shefford is transforming into a tropical jungle this July!

It's A Bug's World turns the STMA, Sports & Social Club, into a tropical jungle this July, as it welcomes a huge number of guests who are ready to show off and teach you a few things about themselves. This exhibition is perfect for children who are aspiring entomologists and herpetologists and it is also great for children and adults who have an interest in wildlife from around the world or love a variety of pets!

This informal, educational exhibition is an exciting opportunity to get close to a wide variety of animals from around the world. And, see for yourselves that creepy crawlies, despite their reputation, are not creepy crawley at all. On display will be many species of invertebrates from snails to spiders, cockroaches to scorpions, and millipedes to locusts.

There will be animal handling experiences available during the day with invertebrates, reptiles and other animals.

**** Please read if attending It's A Bug's World on Sunday. Despite the building work still going on at STMA, our event will still be taking place. It is unfortunate that the new build has not been completed in time as we were looking forward to using it, however we still aim to provide a fun, educational and entertaining event with animals on display, animals available for handling, the Kids Club (pay on the door now with limited spaces left), gifts and goodies, a wide range of invertebrates for sale as well as animal equipment available.

To find your way in, please come around the back of the STMA. We will make a few arrow signs to guide you.

We look forward to seeing you there!

(Please be aware that there will be limited animals available for handling until 11.30am as they will be in the Kids Club)****

Black Cricket Kids Club Taster Session

The Kids Club will be providing a taster session during the It's A Bug's World event. This is a private session welcoming children aged 5 - 13 (year 8) (and their parents / carers, if they wish to sit in) to come along and try a Kids Club 'taster' session. There will be information given about the Kids Club, the children will be personally introduced to a variety of animals that attend the Kids Club and will have opportunities to handle the animals, and will be given a Kids Club goodie bag. Parents / carers may take photographs of their children during this session. The non-refundable entry fee is £5 per child, if booked in advance (before 29th June). It will be £10 per child on the day. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to book your child into this session. More information about the Kids Club can be found here: www.blackcricket.co.uk/kids-club

Please note that there is an entry fee of £1 per adult for the whole event, payable on the main door.

In addition, there will be information on Little Lizard Rescue (a local rescue) which is committed to the rescue and rehoming of small lizards, invertebrates, chelonia and small mammals, on-going research of these animal species and raising money for such a cause. They will answer your questions and queries and guide you through how the animals live in the wild and how we can take care of them properly at home as pets.

Black Cricket Animal Services will have information about their pet sitting services, the Kids Club, animal experiences (for parties and events) and the It's A Bug's World exhibitions.

There will also be tables with gifts and goodies, Beautiful Bugs snack pots (edible insects), pocket money toys, refreshments. There will be further tables with animal equipment (cages, tanks, heating, lighting etc) and some invertebrates will be for sale too. (If you would like a table, please contact us, discounts available to those who have had a table previously)

Thinking about owning a bearded dragon? There will be lots of information about the Pogona sp. at our event, informing you of what is required and busting the myths such as "beardies can live together" (no they cannot), "beardies are found in the wild in California" (no they are not, you will only find them in Australia). It is hoped that one or more of the bearded dragons currently in Little Lizard Rescue (Bearded Dragon Sanctuary) will be in attendance and "posing" in a display (or displays) demonstrating the correct set-up.

There will be a wealth of information and interactive activities to get you and your family inspired by these wonderful creatures!

Entry is £1 per adult on the day, under 18 get in free! Everyone is welcome and the event is open to the general public between 10.00 - 14.00 on Sunday 2nd July 2017.

Please ensure that you have cash on the day as we are unable to accept credit or debit cards.
